Geologists, through the theory of tectonic plates, have proven that the Earth is in continuous movement from this
point of view, in search of an equilibrium dictated by the conditions contingent to the moment. The meteorologists
have also shown that the atmosphere is an entity in continuous modification, and the hydrologists have made
similar discoveries in regards to the hydrosphere. Let us not even mention the biologists who, to a great extent,
possess the secret to the living beings' evolution. What the Gaia theory does is to interconnect all of these
elements, thus showing that the living beings actually regulate the ensemble, taking it to an optimal state called
geostasis. The adjustment itself is the result of a geophysiology which is constituted as a mechanism which
transcends the separate disciplines' data, thus acting holistically.
